Taking time out

I need a couple of days off blogger. I have a serious amount of photo housekeeping to do and catching up on Flickr.
So a little self discipline, right? That's all I need. Just instead of sitting here reading and burbling I need to sit here and move files around and curse the computer and the hard drive instead of blogger.

Back soon :)
Lotsa love :)
Sleep well :)

Just the build up to the storm Mel :)
When it came it was just a few big raindrops and a lot of wind!
I like a good storm but I'm not complaining this one was a bit of a fizzle :) Always a mistake to complain about the weather in case you get more than you bargained for!

Yeah well, I realised even on break I had to do a bit of checking up! Well it's only taken me - umm - well I'd better go and do some work now!
hugs to you too.

now, when I moved, I rediscovered something I thought I'd lost ages ago. . .

. . .a children's story I wrote when I was 18, based around a boy who wants to grow up, who goes on a journey - meeting and talking to various wildlife creatures (rabbits, birds. . .) leaving a trail of sweet pea flowers behind him. . .

(I used a illustrations cut out of a piece of very pretty wrapping paper)

:-)

Oh how lovely that you found the story I . It's an original scenario and I love the idea of a trail of sweet peas.
Now I want to know more, like where did the sweet peas come from and were they gifts or accidentally left and did anyone follow the trail and and and and......
Oh and did he grow up :)

thank you Betty :)

he was a very small boy who wanted to grow up

so he packed some food and walked out of the house, down the path and out of the gate

a dove (or whatever the animal was) cooed at him to take a bunch of sweetpea flowers from the garden and leave them as a trail (bit like breadcrumbs, only they wouldn't be eaten by birds)

he travels and travels and talks to lots of animals who help him

and in the end the moon says to look in his reflection in the water, and he is no longer small but tall

he follows the trail back home, and all the sweet pea flowers have dropped their seeds and new plants have grown. . .

. . .kind of about patience growing up and seeking or asking and then listening to the advice of others; but not really, and not moralistic, and an introduction to the names of lots of wildlife (deer, rabbits, owls, various birds etc etc)

when I get home, whenever that is, I'll send it to you (recorded delivery!)

wrote it when I was au-pairing in Canada in my year off before Uni, in 1982 (every night the most amazing sunsets, cos it was after the Mt St Helens eruptions)

about the only thing I haven't either thrown away or lost during all the various house/home moves since (14 since 1982 to date)
