New toys all round
Fred introduced me to Picasa and Peter got himself a download. It's a lovely simple programme for doing things with pictures and I took the plunge and downloaded it too. (Free download). It's catalogued all my pictures (I was a bit taken aback to learn that I have more than 3,000 on the computer and that's not counting all the Clipart stuff) and has really simple photo fixes and a few nice effects. Incredibly easy and quick to download and install. Picture viewing and editing are a joy. The only thing I can't find is a feature to adjust image size for the web but I can still do that in photo shop. Really worth a look.
And it's Barney's birthday tomorrow so I bought Nutmeg a new bed. Well OK, I went to Scats (The Country Store, I think they call themselves) under the mistaken impression that I could get Barney some tape measure patterned braces there and couldn't, so I bethought myself of the poor shivering dog in his worn old blanket. He seems to like the new one.
I'm still dithering about a new camera. I seem to have convinced myself in some tortuous way that I'm not allowed one until I have got my sleeping habits under control and will therefore have time to do some more photography (as opposed to occasional mad snapping). Thus making the camera a worthwhile investment. Who am I kidding. I worked out the other day that if I go to bed like other people and get up after 8 hours sleep I'll have less time.
Oh well.

new cameras: hoorah! I'm delighted with mine. I can't do links in comments but there is one over at my place in that post about losing it... it balances cost and performance in such a way that I think they got the pricing wrong. Eight million pixels for less than £200? It's mad! But I'm very happy (loads better than my old Canon and, gulp, even better than my Nikon AF SLR)
picasa is fantabulous! don't know why we wasted money on adobe photoshop....
i did my shoe/handbag collage on picasa - so simple!
I can't believe it took me so long to go digital. I loved my old canon ae1 1984 olympic series. I even felt a tiny bit guilty for letting it go.
But, the digital sure fits my picture taking habits better. (Am saving up for the portal)
haven't checked out picasa, yet.
Your doggy sure does seem to like the new bed.
Sherbert: More of a not sleeping habit. I don't have much trouble doing it once I get into bed (or earlier in front of the telly) but it takes me half the night to get there. while other people sleep!
Then in the morning other people get up an see the early morning sun (and frosty hedgerows on the Downs) while I am sleeping.
UC: it is a lovely programme. You feel somebody has really worked to make it do the job well.
Love your pictures Mig so whatever you do, keep on taking them! sorry to hear you don't sleep. That's hard on a person.
Eight million? Ooh I want them all!
Thanks Kyah. Have to say it's entirely my own fault. Just not enough hours in the day to have my cake, eat it and then have another piece :)
Got no self discipline, me.
Hi Mig, just catching up with your blog. Have you got a web site as well now? I'm curious because of your comment about resizing. Picasa does its own resizing automatically when you blog from there so no need for PS. It also does it for emailing. I haven't been able to get my blog to work for ages. It just keeps telling me there is no internet connection which is rubbish. In case you haven't heard of it give Qimage a try for printing. It does resizing and sharpening really well without all the fuss of PS. It does cost $50 US though. There is a 30 day trial period so you can evaluate it. I shall read on some more to see if you have got a new camera.
